Opportunities for Graduates
As part of our hiring strategies, we focus our efforts on hiring early career professionals. We offer young professionals the opportunity to meet and work with leading experts in the industry.
We are dedicated to helping build our industry’s talent. By working with students who are exploring different career paths, we encourage them to pursue careers in engineering, architecture, planning, surveying, construction, technology and much more.
We support and volunteer for a number of organizations dedicated to promoting technical careers. We help students develop relationships in the industry through mentoring, job shadowing and our internship program. The CHA Companies are involved in the ACE Mentor Program, Project Lead The Way, Future City Competition, and the Job Shadowing Program.
Opportunities for Students
The CHA Companies have an extensive and competitive Summer Internship Program. Each summer, over 40 interns are employed throughout company offices in the United States and Canada. Over the 8 to 12 week duration of the internship program, interns participate in authentic learning experiences that help them improve and develop skills. These opportunities include:
- Real hands-on experience; performance of entry level responsibilities
- Teamwork among fellow interns and technical team members
- Technical presentations
- Project site visits
- Research project and presentation participation
- Social outings & community outreach opportunities
- Field work
Our internship program aims to prepare students for the entry-level working environment and provide them with the best resources to be successful in their future careers. We start recruiting and speaking with students as early as September for consideration in the following year's program. Ideally, we seek students who are going into their junior or senior year of college with the goal of potentially making an offer to top performing graduating interns.
In pursuit of being the best in the industry, our Talent Acquisition Team and technical staff attend career fairs throughout the fall and spring to seek top talent for our entry-level hiring effort. Each career fair is strategically planned based on the needs of the company.
Our approach to attending career fairs is to continue to build relationships, create a presence at selected schools, attract and hire top talent, and market the company. We do this all in new, innovative ways to stay ahead of the competition.
